Medinah Country Club, just outside Chicago, is hosting its first Presidents Cup, on the same Course No. 3 layout that has staged two PGA Championships and the 2012 Ryder Cup, the "Miracle at Medinah," where Europe erased a four-point final-day deficit to win. Matches run September 24-27: foursomes and four-ball over the first three days, then Sunday singles.
Brandt Snedeker captains the United States; Geoff Ogilvy captains the International team. Each side built its roster the same way: six automatic qualifiers from the points period, plus six captain's picks to round out the 12. Both captains played the event themselves: Snedeker, the 2012 FedExCup champion, went 2-3-0 as a player in the 2013 Presidents Cup, while Ogilvy, the 2006 US Open champion, posted a 7-6-1 record across three straight International Team appearances from 2007 to 2011. Taylor, Echavarria, and Hisatsune are first-time Presidents Cup players, which means half of Ogilvy's picks, and a quarter of his full 12, have never played the event before.
