Today in Golf Tech: Spider's Next Chapter

TaylorMade's new Spider Tour V and F putters are on tour at Harbour Town. Plus Titleist officially launches the GTS fairway wood range.

Today in Golf Tech: Spider's Next Chapter

The RBC Heritage was a busy week for equipment spotters. Two hardware stories came out of Harbour Town that are worth tracking: TaylorMade's next Spider chapter, and Titleist's official GTS fairway launch.

TaylorMade's Spider Refresh Is Real and It's on Tour

TaylorMade's Spider putter line appeared in five of the first six PGA Tour wins in 2026, with Rory McIlroy using the Spider Tour X for both his 2025 and 2026 Masters titles, and Scottie Scheffler logging 14 Tour victories on the same line. The Spider isn't just popular — it's been the dominant mallet shape on tour for the better part of two years.

At the RBC Heritage, GolfWRX and Golfmagic spotted a set of new Spider Tour prototype putters: the Spider Tour V and the Spider Tour F. The F is a notably different shape — a forked mallet design, something new for the Spider family. The V is an updated version of a model that Collin Morikawa briefly gamed. Tommy Fleetwood was spotted testing the F at Harbour Town, and Pierceson Coody has the F in play already.

The colour scheme has changed: the navy blue sole plate associated with McIlroy and Scheffler is gone, replaced by a black finish with neon blue highlights. No release date for the public yet, but "sometime in 2026" is the working assumption from GolfWRX forum members. If the Spider Tour X's trajectory is any guide, expect the new shapes to reach retail within six months of tour seeding.

For amateurs using mallet putters who justify the choice through stroke-type fittings — and you should be — the Spider F's winged shape is worth watching once independent alignment and stability tests come through.

Also This Week

Titleist GTS fairways officially launched — Titleist officially debuted the GTS2 and GTS3 fairway woods at the RBC Heritage. The woods were spotted earlier at the Houston Open but only now confirmed for the full range. The silver face design is a standout visual, making loft selection clearer at address. Profile looks larger than the previous Titleist GT fairway line. The GTS model (a separate shape spotted first at Houston) wasn't part of this official release — further information expected soon.

Mini drivers still trending at tour level — The GolfWRX RBC Heritage tour report noted a notable uptick in mini driver use among pros looking for course-specific setups at tight Harbour Town. The Callaway Quantum Mini from last week is now getting field-tested at exactly the type of target course it was designed for.

If you're fitting a bag right now, the spider refresh and GTS fairway both offer reasons to wait a few months before pulling the trigger on the putter or fairway slot.
